Part variety show, part immersive theater, you are invited to get to know the strange denizens of the Carnevale. Enjoy live music, stage magic, burlesque and circus arts including aerial performances, stilt-walking and more; all while you delve into the mysteries of the Carnevale and come to learn of it’s dark origin. The perfect show for Halloween lovers, puzzle enthusiasts, and thrill-seekers.”
Live Band Score: Halloween Wildcard:The Black Pirate (1926)
Pirates loot a ship of its riches before blowing it up. Father-and-son survivors of noble birth wash ashore of an island, and the injured father perishes. The son (Douglas Fairbanks) promises to seek revenge by infiltrating the same band of buccaneers and bringing them to justice. Posing as the “Black Pirate,” he defeats the captain, captures a merchant ship single-handedly and earns himself a role as their new leader. Unanticipated is a princess (Billie Dove) who needs protection.
Once again, we are thrilled to have an original score performed live by Boston ‘SteamCRUNK’ ensemble and RPM Challenge favorites, Walter Sickert & the ARmy of BRoken TOys. In affiliation with, and as a fundraiser for, Portsmouth Halloween Parade.
Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys return to the Museum of Science for one night only! Kick off your Halloween as the Toys take over the Charles Hayden Planetarium for an unforgettable evening of masquerade, music, and mayhem under the dome. Beware, they’re not alone — other tricks and treats lurk around every corner of the Toys’ macabre Museum!
Walter has designed the art and music for this special performance to be an immersive voyage from start to finish. Join us for an apocalyptic party in space that starts on Earth and jettisons out through surrealist multiverses into rabbit holes straight through the psychedelic Planetarium maw!
Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys are musically sophisticated, immensely talented, and wildly unusual; diverse in material and presentation; a Dada-esque dustbowl circus run amok.
Join us for a drink before and after the show! Cash bar and complimentary light snacks available starting at 6:30 p.m. when the Planetarium lobby transforms into the Toys’ macabre museum full of special guests and surprises. After the show, the party continues until 10:00 p.m., so stick around and kick off the Halloween weekend as Walter Sickert and friends take over for one night only!
